Before turning on your theme live, you should set up some of the functions you want to use. Most configurable files are located in purus/partials/ folder.

I. Ghost API Features (beta)

This is optional:
Purus Theme uses some of the new features from Ghost API (beta).

  • To show featured posts on the front page: go to and tick the Public API checkbox.
  • To enable email subscription (beta): go to and tick the Subscribers checkbox.

II. Disqus commenting system - disqus.hbs

If you want to use Disqus commenting system you will need to configure it by replacing your shortname Disqus ID. Read More

  1. Open disqus.hbs file with your text editor (located in partials/custom folder).
  2. Now enter your Disqus shortname in the right place and save the file.

This is optional: To connect Google Analytics:

IV. Search page

To activate Search page:

  1. Go to and tick the Public API checkbox.
  2. Go to your admin ghost panel and create a new empty post titled Search

  3. Set it as a static page and hit publish.

  4. Now go to Settings -> Navigation and create your link to search page.

    Hit save and you're done.

V. Social media icons

To add your social media links in Footer and Navigation area, open social-media.hbs file with your text editor, paste your links in the right place and save the file.

To choose different icons visit Font Awesome Cheatsheet website, pick your icon class name from the list and replace it.


  1. Log in to your Ghost admin panel.
  2. Go to Settings->Design and click Upload a theme.
  3. Now select and upload your Purus zip file.
  4. Click Activate now and it‘s done, your new theme is now up and running.
